IEEE R10
IEEE (IRE) sections began to develop in the Asia-Pacific region prior to the formation of a Region 10 district. New Zealand started in 1968, Pakistan in 1968, India (Bombay) in 1969 and Tokyo in 1955 (as part of the IRE). The formation of Region 10 was approved by the IEEE Board of Directors at the August 24, 1966 meeting.

IEEE India Council
IEEE India Council is the umbrella organisation which coordinates IEEE activities in India. Its primary aim is to assist and coordinate the activities of local "Sections", in order to benefit mutually, and avoid duplication of effort and resources. IEEE India Council was established on 20th May 1976 and is one of the six councils in the Asia Pacific Region, ie Region 10.

IEEE Delhi Section
It has got a Subsection at Chandigarh and nine Society Chapters, namely, Joint Chapter of Circuits and Systems Society – Control Systems Society, Computer Society, Joint Chapter of Power Engineering Society - Industrial Applications Society, Communications Society, Engineering Management Society, Joint Chapter of Instrumentation and Measurement Society – Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, Joint Chapter of Power Electronics Society – Industrial Electronics Society, Electron Devices Society and Microwave Theory and Techniques Society. Three Affinity Groups, Women In Engineering (WIE), Graduate Of Last Decade (GOLD) and Consultants Network (CN) too exist.Delhi Section is one of the 10 Sections in India coming under Asia-Pacific Region, the Region 10 of IEEE. It covers entire northern part of the country consisting of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, Union Territory of Chandigarh and the five states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
